Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Slovenia has expanded the Wave2Pay application for Visa debit card holders, which provides easy and convenient contactless mobile payment for small and large purchases.
The results of a survey on digital payments carried out by Visa show that 62% of Europeans use mobile phones to check the balance or access bank’s services. More than two thirds have already used the so-called “mobile money”, while the Millennials are the ones who have fully adopted digital payments, as 86% of participants in the age group from 18 to 34 years, replied that they are “mobile money users”.
On a press conference held on 26th September, representatives of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank and Visa in Slovenia presented a new service within the Wave2Pay mobile wallet – Activa Visa Inspire debit card. From now on, Slovenian users can pay with a card that is accessible on their smartphones via the Wave2Pay mobile wallet at all POS terminals at home and abroad that are marked with the contactless symbol. Thus, they are keeping pace with European trends that show that 77% of Europeans use mobile phones to monitor their finances and make day-to-day payments, such as paying invoices, parking fees and having fun with friends outside.
The Wave2Pay application is based on NFC technology, implemented by Mercury Processing Services International. The application enables the contactless connection of the smartphone and the reader at the point of sale (POS terminal).
“After last year’s successful cooperation with Intesa Sanpaolo Bank in Slovenia, when the latter, as the first bank on the Slovenian market, issued a multifaceted mobile wallet and offered the public the opportunity to pay with smartphones, we are now again pleased to be supported by the introduction of mobile payments with the Visa card Inspire. Slovenia is the fourth market in which we are providing this innovative solution in cooperation with Visa, ” said Zdenek Houser, CEO of Mercury Processing Services International.
